My First Library: Boxset of 10 Board Books for Kids

This is a set of 10 small board books for babies and toddlers (early language learners, preverbal stage).

I often looked at these daily with my babies so they could become familiar with words and naming objects. Works well alongside pointing out things around the house (“window, sink, door, bed”), even though those items aren’t in the books.

The images are simple photos on a white background, which makes it easy for babies to focus on one object at a time. Every page has one image (two facing each other) and a lowercase word naming the item.

Books in the set:

  • ABC
  • colors
  • shapes
  • numbers up to 20
  • birds
  • farm animals & pets
  • wild animals
  • fruits
  • vegetables
  • vehicles

Each book is about 3–4 inches square, so a baby can hold it and practice flipping pages without ripping them.

The books are durable enough for a 2–4 toothed baby to chew without falling apart. After heavy use with three kids, I’ve used packing tape to reinforce the seams, but they never fell apart. I like these books and preemptively repaired them because they’re so simple. I love them.

The ABC book is my least favorite because it has X for “xmas tree,” (xmas isn’t a real word) and W for “wool,” (showing a ball of yarn), and that’s just weird to me. Even still, all the books are great for multipurpose language development. We still talk about the images in the ABC book; I just don’t use it for ABCs.

I would save or gift these to my own kids and would recommend them to friends if they asked.
